Hollywood, corrupting our youth

as flash bulbs go off to commemorate Lindsay Lohans third trip to rehab in only a matter of months i can help but feel pity for the poor girl. the paparazzi, a crazed force, advertising and broadcasting the intimate moments of her life to the masses. With the 20 something crowd, looking up to these celebutonts, i feel as if the media, and paparazzi is partially to blame for the collapse of our youth, in terms of motivation, binge drinking, and excessive spending.

the generation that is coming of age, represent the first generation to grow up amongst technology we are now accustomed to. We are the first generation to have had internet since childhood, to have numerous television channels to choose from, to have weekly tabloid magazine, and the first generation to be solicited to advertising. We are the generation that has the media make decisions for us, we are the generation that learns all we know via, tv, internet and now the paparazzi. it seems as if my generation, a generation needing constant approval, waits for Hollywood to act; only to follow suit.

I am scared for the future of our nation, i am scared for the future of our society. We live day to day, in an economy that is not sustainable. sure we are in a time of bomb, sure we have resources aplenty. But our government, and our large corporations only through money at the problem, distracting us with celebrity news.

Why should we ask questions, in a time of constant change, and progression? why should we be so committed to reducing fossil fuels, when celebrities are endorsing SMART WATER? Bottle water consumption is the single largest pollutant to our environment. we through away each year over a billion dollars in plastic, and the energy used to recycle the plastic is more than the energy that would be used to create a new bottle.

We can easily reduce our consumption of bottled water. we have plenty of drinkable tap water. Why i wonder does the media, or Al Gore not encourage us to drink from the tap?

we each only are as strong as the values we create, and the decision we make. i only want to provoke thought, and questions.
